James Rohlehr, (pronounced Rolair) is a gifted jazz and funk guitarist.
He is also a talented singer, songwriter, composer and producer.
James is originally from New York and is a graduate of City College of N.Y. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in music composition. While at CCNY he studied with John Lewis of The Modern Jazz Quartet.
His commitment to mastering the guitar led to receiving two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships. The first was with the phenomenal jazz guitarist, Jack Wilkins and the other with world renown classical guitarist Jorge Morel.

Music Accomplishments include :

*2008 produced 6th CD project for aj, EVOLUTION.

*2006-2007 Composed music for Television, INSIDE EDITION.

*James and his wife Andrea ,(äj), in 2004 released CD as artists for Integy Records (Receiving air play in over 50 Radio stations in 26 states)

*Co-produced 5 CDs for 13 STORIES RECORDS.

*James and his wife Andrea ,(äj), in 2000 released CD as artists for Expansion Records UK (James Produced all cuts)

*James recently performed in the stage band for a tribute to Maya Angelu
where he played and sang backgrounds for Ashford and Simpson, Cissy Houston, Nancy Wilson, and Gloria Lynn.

*James co-wrote a song with Atlantic recording artist jazz violinist, Regina Carter. The song “The Last Time” was featured on Regina’s debut C.D.

*New Jersey Pops James and His wife Andrea were featured guest vocalists.

*Winner of the 1997 President’s Award for songwriting from the
Songwriters Guild of America for excellence in the Art and Craft of songwritings. He and Andrea Rohlehr were selected by Guild president and world renown songwriter , George David Weiss

*As a studio musician he has worked with rapper/ producer Heavy D. and
rap producer Alex Richbourg, R&B group Soul 4 Real.(performed on tracks 8& 9of Soul 4 Real’s Debuet CD Candy Rain)

* Released debut CD entitled äj ( a band formed with wife Andrea), featuring all original songs. All songs produced and co-written by James Rohlehr.

* Dance Theater of Harlem James’ band äj is frequently featured in Open House Series special

*James and his wife Andrea were featured vocalists on (song writer) Joe McMahon’s debuet CD.

*Young Audiences/New York Residency Artist Conducted recording workshops at various New York City Schools and conducted workshops for The Bertelsmann World of Expression Scholarship Program.

* The New School/The Guitar Study Center
Taught band performance, improvisation and private guitar.

* I.C.I.S. The Door (an alternative school for teenagers)
Taught music and directed music performance workshops

* U.S. State Department Bombay, India / Music Director for performances

*Performed in Osaka Japan with Andrea G. Martin ( Now Andrea G. Rohlehr)

*Co-owner of ANDJAM SONGS publishing company.

*In 1993 James and Andrea formed the songwriting/performance duo called aj, (pronounced ahhsh)
