Andrea and James Rohlehr, (pronounced Rolair), the husband and wife songwriter performing duo out of New York – collectively known by their first initials as äj, (pronounced Ahhsh) – have dedicated their musical lives to expanding the love they’ve shared in their personal relationship into a collective universal and spiritual mindset.

The soulful duo of äj are talented singers, songwriters, musicians, producers and educators. They blend their talents in a flawless arrangement of thoroughly fresh and unique weaving of threads that allows you to enjoy great music again.

“The idea of moving beyond the interpersonal love relationships became one of the driving forces of our music ”, says Andrea who writes, sings lead vocals, plays the flute and piano.   James, a multi-instrumentalist whose main focus is guitar, also sings, writes, and produces echoes, “We wanted to make music whose consciousness reflects what we’re living as individuals, as a married couple and as parents of two young children.

Married 16 years, James and Andrea’s musical partnership extends into many exciting and diverse areas in the realms of performance, education, songwriting, and producing. Collectively or individually, they have been involved in the field of music education for more than twenty years.
