Andrea Rohlehr
(pronounced Rolair) “remembered” she could sing at the age of 3.
At 8 she began to play the piano. Her first live audience heard her sing
‘The Christmas Song’ as a 7th grader. Andrea began performing with
local bands in St. Louis at the age of 17 and writing songs while in college.
While on a three month engagement in Osaka, Japan in 1991she began to seriously
study the flute. Andrea is the author/illustrator/composer of music for a soon to be released children’s book, (There’s A Bug In The Tub!) Writing credits also includes two
projects which she hopes to see brought to stage/screen in the near future.
Andrea, originally from St. Louis, Missouri is the eldest of three children of the late Arnold & Zadie
Martin. She is a Parkway West Sr. High and University of Kansas
graduate with a Bachelor of Music Education. (She also attended Webster Groves
High School). At Columbia Middle School she taught vocal music and was briefly
a choir director at Lane Tabernacle Church before relocating to New York city to pursue a professional music career.
Other accomplishments since the NY relocation include the following:
*teaching vocal music at The New School for Social Research
* artist in residency for several years with Young Audiences/New York/song/lyric writing workshops and live performances
*has both music and artwork featured on several of The Songwriter’s Guild of America/New York CD’s
*freelance performer for numerous music ensembles/venues/private events
To date Andrea and husband/music partner James a.k.a. äj are enjoying the release of their 6th independent CD , “Evolution”. Andrea is also the proud mother of two children
Brianna and James.
